Kathmandu, Nepal

The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has secured an additional import of 600 MW of electricity, greatly alleviating the power shortages that have long plagued industrial production throughout the nation.

This additional power supply, particularly in the Sunsari-Morang Industrial Corridor, is providing much-needed stability, helping manufacturers lower operating costs that had been consequently rising due to frequent load shedding.

Businesses are expected to now maintain consistent operations, leading to improved productivity. This relief is crucial for maintaining economic stability, especially during the dry seasons when domestic hydropower generation is frequently limited.

The increase in electricity imports from India is playing a crucial role in supporting the recovery of Nepal's manufacturing sector, guaranteeing job stability, and contributing to the country's overall economic growth.
